There was much about 2022 that made us smile, and a particularly memorable moment for the team was the evening together at the Natural History Museum. It was here that Lloyd Architects was recognized as the 2022 Firm of the Year by AIA Utah. This annual award recognizes a firm's sustained contributions to the built environment through design excellence, and it's the highest honor AIA UT can bestow upon a firm.
Founded in 2000, we continue to be a community-oriented and environmentally responsive design firm that strives to practice quiet architecture – work that seamlessly blends into its surroundings. With every project, we seek to convey a practical elegance, resulting in timeless and meaningful spaces. We value architectural simplicity, social equity, building durability, and resource conservation strategies that result in healthy buildings for those who live, work, and play in the spaces we create.
"This award acknowledges Lloyd Architects decades of quality architectural ensign across broad areas of expertise, the firm's influence on local architectural practice, and its efforts to nurture Utah's architectural community. Additionally, this nomination acknowledges Lloyd Architects sustainable investments in the local built environment and the firm's efforts to give back to Utah through community [service] and outreach.
Lloyd Architects' operating thesis is "Building from Here." For Lloyd Architects, this thesis applies as much to adaptively reusing warehouses in Salt Lake City's Granary Neighborhood as it does to nurturing new talent and the local architectural community, and investing in Utah through good design and the service-focused institutions of our state."
